May was stroke Awareness Month, but stroke awareness continues forward. Fast action saves life

Welcome to Carol E. Yorke Studio!

May was Stroke Awareness Month — but stroke awareness cannot end when the calendar turns. We must stay stroke aware every day, every month, because recognizing the signs quickly can save a life. My goal is simple: to remind stroke survivors and their families that life after stroke can still be meaningful, joyful, and full of purpose. I hope you’ll follow along as we continue this journey together.

After surviving a stroke in 2009, I discovered that recovery is about much more than physical healing. It is about hope, resilience, gratitude, and finding new ways to live A meaningful life. I also discovered that I was surprisingly well prepared to adapt to my new reality. As the daughter of a career Army chief warrant officer, I spent my childhood moving across the country and overseas every few years. Each transfer meant leaving behind friends, schools, and everything familiar to start over somewhere new.

Those frequent moves taught me resilience, flexibility, and the ability to embrace change—skills that proved invaluable after my stroke. While I never would have chosen the challenges I faced, I realized I had been developing the tools to navigate major life transitions long before my stroke ever occurred.

Through my books, motivational graphics, and speaking engagements, I share encouragement for stroke survivors, caregivers, and anyone facing life’s unexpected challenges.

My mission is simple: to help others move from devastation to motivation.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you’ll return often as I share stories, insights, and inspiration from my journey.
